Tokyo, Nov. 1 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000063405) titled 'Changes in Cognitive Functions Following Revascularization Surgery in Moyamoya Disease' on Nov. 1.

Study Type: Observational

Primary Sponsor: Institute - Tokyo Women's Medical University Yachiyo Medical Center

Condition: Condition - Moyamoya disease Classification by malignancy - Others Genomic information - NO

Objective: Narrative objectives1 - This prospective observational study aims to investigate the association between changes in cerebral perfusion and cognitive function following revascularization surgery in adults with ischemic-type moyamoya disease. Cognitive function is comprehensively assessed using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-Third Edition (WAIS-III), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Benton Visual Retention Test, Stroop Test, Trail Making Test (TMT), Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT), and other neuropsychological assessments. Associations between changes in cognitive performance and cerebral perfusion measured by SPECT are evaluated. Basic objectives2 - Safety,Efficacy

Eligibility: Age-lower limit - 18 years-old <= Age-upper limit - Not applicable Gender - Male and Female Key inclusion criteria - Adult patients aged 18 years or older diagnosed with moyamoya disease. Patients who underwent extracranial-intracranial (EC-IC) bypass surgery. Patients with a preoperative modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 0-2. Patients with a preoperative Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score of 26 or higher. Patients who were able to undergo cerebral blood flow assessment using SPECT and cognitive function assessment using neuropsychological tests both before and after surgery. Key exclusion criteria - Patients with a preoperative modified Rankin Scale (mRS) score of 3 or higher. Patients with a preoperative Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) score of 25 or lower. Patients with neurological deficits, including aphasia, severe motor impairment, or visual impairment, that precluded reliable neuropsychological assessment. Patients for whom preoperative or postoperative SPECT data or neuropsychological assessment data were unavailable. Target Size - 60
