Narrative objectives1 - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of high-intensity strength training performed before warm-up on 1000-m running performance in collegiate female distance runners.

Intervention:
Interventions/Control_1 - Resistance exercise condition: After a light warm-up consisting of running and calisthenics, participants perform hex-bar deadlifts. The load is set at 60-80% of the one-repetition maximum (1RM), based on each participant's existing training records. The load is maintained or progressively increased across sets according to the participant's lifting performance and physical condition. Participants perform three sets of three repetitions, with a 3-min rest between sets. After a 10-min rest following the final set, participants perform several short progressive acceleration runs (strides) as their usual warm-up and then complete one 1000-m running time trial.
Interventions/Control_2 - Control condition: As in the resistance exercise condition, participants perform a light warm-up consisting of running and calisthenics. However, they do not perform hex-bar deadlifts or take the subsequent 10-min rest period. They then perform several short progressive acceleration runs (strides) as their usual warm-up and complete one 1000-m running time trial. Each participant completes both the resistance exercise condition and the control condition, with at least 48 h between the two testing sessions.

Key inclusion criteria - Collegiate female distance runners belonging to the track and field club of Teikyo University of Science who regularly perform endurance training and strength training. Participants who receive an explanation of the study and provide written informed consent. If minors are included, written informed consent will be obtained from both the participant and a parent or guardian.
Key exclusion criteria - Individuals who have injuries, severe muscle soreness, fever, poor physical condition, or any condition judged by the principal investigator or co-investigator to make exercise participation inappropriate at the time of measurement. Individuals whose high-intensity exercise is restricted due to cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, or other medical conditions, or by a physician.
