Tokyo, June 1 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000061707) titled 'Elucidating the mechanisms of meniscal degeneration and extrusion in knee osteoarthritis using RNA sequencing' on June 1.

Study Type: Others,meta-analysis etc

Primary Sponsor: Institute - Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University

Condition: Condition - knee osteoarthritis Classification by malignancy - Others Genomic information - YES

Objective: Narrative objectives1 - In osteoarthritis of the knee, RNA-seq will be performed on meniscal tissue from groups with severe meniscal extrusion and groups with mild/no meniscal extrusion to clarify differences in cell subset composition, gene expression profiles, and signaling networks, thereby elucidating the molecular and cellular mechanisms of meniscal extrusion. Basic objectives2 - Others

Eligibility: Age-lower limit - 60 years-old

Gender - Female Key inclusion criteria - Patients with osteoarthritis of the knee Age 60 to under 70. Female. Written informed consent obtained from the research participant. Key exclusion criteria - Inflammatory joint diseases such as chronic rheumatoid arthritis and crystal-induced arthritis History of infectious arthritis Cases in which the same knee has undergone extensive meniscectomy or artificial joint replacement in the past Cases where participation in the study is deemed inappropriate due to severe systemic complications

Recruitment Status: Recruitment status - Preinitiation Date of protocol fixation - 2026 Year 05 Month 27 Day Anticipated trial start date - 2026 Year 05 Month 27 Day Last follow-up date - 2030 Year 03 Month 31 Day
