Tokyo, Sept. 10 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000062777) titled 'Establishment of Diagnostic Methods for Cardiovascular Diseases in Dentistry' on Sept. 10.

Study Type: Observational

Primary Sponsor: Institute - Kanagawa Dental University

Condition: Condition - Coronary artery disease Classification by malignancy - Others Genomic information - NO

Objective: Narrative objectives1 - This study aims to biochemically elucidate the potential linkage between periodontitis and coronary artery disease (CAD), two distinct organ-specific conditions, via metabolic and inflammatory pathways, using salivary metabolites. Saliva is a dynamic biofluid that reflects not only local oral pathologies but also systemic metabolic states, making it a valuable source for capturing pathophysiological connections between remote organs. By comprehensively analyzing the salivary metabolome of patients with periodontitis and CAD, this study seeks to extract metabolic intersections between these diseases and reconstruct their pathogenic mechanisms. Basic objectives2 - Efficacy

Eligibility: Age-lower limit - 20 years-old <= Age-upper limit - Not applicable Gender - Male and Female Key inclusion criteria - Adult patients receiving outpatient care or hospitalized for coronary artery disease (CAD). Key exclusion criteria - Patients unable to communicate. Target Size - 100

Recruitment Status: Recruitment status - Preinitiation Date of protocol fixation - 2026 Year 05 Month 01 Day Date of IRB - 2026 Year 08 Month 03 Day Anticipated trial start date - 2026 Year 09 Month 10 Day Last follow-up date - 2030 Year 03 Month 31 Day
