Tokyo, Sept. 14 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000062900) titled 'Individualized risk prediction of inferior alveolar nerve injury after mandibular third molar extraction: a multicenter retrospective study using a nomogram' on Sept. 13.

Study Type: Observational

Primary Sponsor: Institute - Nagasaki University

Condition: Condition - Mandibular third molar Classification by malignancy - Others Genomic information - NO

Objective: Narrative objectives1 - In this study, we will develop a nomogram that assigns scores to background factors, enabling the calculation of the individual probability of developing sensory impairment, and we will statistically evaluate its discrimination, calibration, and clinical utility. We believe that this study will allow for the individual assessment of the risk of postoperative sensory impairment and contribute to future oral surgery practice. Basic objectives2 - Others

Eligibility: Age-lower limit - 20 years-old <= Age-upper limit - Not applicable Gender - Male and Female Key inclusion criteria - Cases in which a mandibular wisdom tooth was extracted at the research institution between April 1, 2018, and March 31, 2021. Cases involving patients aged 20 years or older at the time of wisdom tooth extraction. Cases for which a panoramic X-ray image was taken. Key exclusion criteria - Cases where a cyst or tumor is present alongside the wisdom tooth and is in contact with the mandibular canal. Cases where sensory impairment has already developed prior to wisdom tooth extraction. Cases where crown sectioning or a two-stage procedure has been selected. Target Size - 3727
