Tokyo, May 19 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000061612) titled 'Relationship Between Lower Limb and Trunk Motion and Shoulder/Elbow Load During Baseball Pitching' on May 18.
Study Type:
Interventional
Study Design:
Basic Design - Single arm
Randomization - Non-randomized
Blinding - Open -no one is blinded
Control - Self control
Primary Sponsor:
Institute - Niigata University of Health and Welfare
Condition:
Condition - Healthy baseball pitchers
Classification by malignancy - Others
Genomic information - NO
Objective:
Narrative objectives1 - The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between lower extremity and trunk motion and shoulder/elbow injury risk parameters during baseball pitching. In addition, this study aims to examine the effects of different lead-leg landing conditions on upper extremity joint loading and trunk/pelvic motion during pitching, and to explore their potential applications for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Basic objectives2 - Others
Intervention:
Interventions/Control_1 - Participants will perform maximal effort baseball pitching toward a target net. Pitching conditions will be modified by changing stride foot landing position and foot contact pattern at lead foot contact. Ten successful trials will be collected for each condition. Motion capture systems, force plates, high-speed cameras, electromyography, and IMU sensors will be used for biomechanical measurements. Total participation time will be approximately 2 to 3 hours.
Eligibility:
Age-lower limit - 18
years-old
=
Gender - Male
Key inclusion criteria - Healthy baseball players or individuals with baseball experience who have at least 3 years of pitching experience, are overhand throwers, and are capable of maximal-effort pitching. Participants who provide written informed consent will be included.
Key exclusion criteria - Individuals with pain in the shoulder, elbow, trunk, or lower extremities at the time of measurement; those with a history of orthopedic injury or surgery affecting pitching motion within the past 6 months; or those unable to perform maximal-effort pitching will be excluded.
Target Size - 20
Recruitment Status:
Recruitment status - Preinitiation
Date of protocol fixation - 2026 Year 08 Month 01 Day
