Tokyo, May 8 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000061456) titled 'MRI-Based Visualization of Taste Perception Mechanisms' on May 8.

Study Type: Interventional

Study Design: Basic Design - Single arm Randomization - Non-randomized Blinding - Open -no one is blinded Control - Self control

Primary Sponsor: Institute - Tohoku University

Condition: Condition - Healthy subjects Classification by malignancy - Others Genomic information - NO

Objective: Narrative objectives1 - This research seeks to decode the neural mechanisms underlying taste recognition through MRI-based detection of cortical activity triggered by complex flavors, including chocolate and potato chips. By integrating this with functional data on basic taste reception, we aim to visualize the neural circuitry of flavor perception-the interplay of taste and olfaction-and develop a comprehensive functional model. Basic objectives2 - Bio-availability

Intervention: Interventions/Control_1 - Olfactory and gustatory stimuli

Eligibility: Age-lower limit - 20 years-old <= Age-upper limit - Not applicable Gender - Male and Female Key inclusion criteria - (1) Male or female participants aged 20 years or older at the time of providing informed consent. (2) Individuals with no gustatory dysfunction (taste disorders). (3) Individuals who have provided voluntary written informed consent to participate in this study. (4) Individuals capable of minimal communication necessary for the conduct of the study. Key exclusion criteria - (1) Individuals with gustatory dysfunction (taste disorders). (2) Individuals with oral mucosal diseases. (3) Individuals with a severe gag reflex that makes dental treatment difficult. (4) Individuals with a medical history of aspiration pneumonia. (5) Individuals deemed ineligible based on the MRI pre-screening safety checklist. (6) Other individuals judged by the Principal Investigator or Sub-investigator to be unsuitable for participation in the study. Target Size - 30

Recruitment Status: Recruitment status - Preinitiation Date of protocol fixation - 2025 Year 10 Month 26 Day Anticipated trial start date - 2025 Year 11 Month 30 Day Last follow-up date - 2028 Year 10 Month 31 Day
