Tokyo, May 8 -- UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) received information related to the study (UMIN000061456) titled 'MRI-Based Visualization of Taste Perception Mechanisms' on May 8.
Study Type:
Interventional
Study Design:
Basic Design - Single arm
Randomization - Non-randomized
Blinding - Open -no one is blinded
Control - Self control
Primary Sponsor:
Institute - Tohoku University
Condition:
Condition - Healthy subjects
Classification by malignancy - Others
Genomic information - NO
Objective:
Narrative objectives1 - This research seeks to decode the neural mechanisms underlying taste recognition through MRI-based detection of cortical activity triggered by complex flavors, including chocolate and potato chips. By integrating this with functional data on basic taste reception, we aim to visualize the neural circuitry of flavor perception-the interplay of taste and olfaction-and develop a comprehensive functional model.
Basic objectives2 - Bio-availability
Intervention:
Interventions/Control_1 - Olfactory and gustatory stimuli
Eligibility:
Age-lower limit - 20
years-old
<=
Age-upper limit - Not applicable
Gender - Male and Female
Key inclusion criteria - (1) Male or female participants aged 20 years or older at the time of providing informed consent.
(2) Individuals with no gustatory dysfunction (taste disorders).
