The transportation processing unit executes transportation processing for transporting a ticket medium along a transportation path, and gap adjustment processing and cleansing processing which are performed when restored from a power interrupted state. The detection unit detects whether a person approaches a ticket gate. Based on a result of detection by the detection unit, the control unit executes change processing for changing a normal operation mode in which power supply is continued and a transportable state of the ticket medium is maintained, and a power saving mode in which power supply is suspended and the transportable state is halted. When the normal operation mode is shifted to the power saving mode, the control unit stores power saving shift information in a nonvolatile storage unit of the transportation processing unit. When restored from the power interrupted state, if the power saving shift information is not stored, the transportation processing unit executes the gap adjustment processing and the cleansing processing, and if the power saving shift information is stored, omits at least one processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 (Grant)
