TOKYO, Sept. 18 -- Joint Staff issued the following press release:
At around 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2025, JMSDF spotted RFN
Vishnya-class AGI x 1 (hull number 208) sailing southwestward in the
waters approximately 50 km east of Miyake-jima Island.
The RFN AGI sailed southward in the contiguous zone of Miyake-jima Island
and continued to sail southwestward in the contiguous zone between Mikurajima Island and Hachijo-jima Island.
Subsequently, from September 13 to 15, the vessel sailed around Okinawa
Main Island as follows:
Sailed southwestward in the waters from east to south of Okinawa Main
Island, including in the contiguous zone.
Sailed northwestward in the contiguous zone south of Okinawa Main
Island.
Sailed northwestward in the contiguous zone southwest of Kume-jima
Island toward the East China Sea.
This is the same vessel that sailed eastward through Tsugaru Strait and
sailed northeastward in the contiguous zone south of Cape Erimo from August
21 to 22.
JMSDF assets monitored the activities of the vessel.
