TOKYO, Sept. 16 -- JASDF issued the following news:
On 15 September, F-15 fighters of 201st Tactical Fighter Squadron, 2nd Air Wing
have departed their home Chitose Air Base to conduct the mission "Atlantic Eagles." Atlantic Eagles is the name of the JASDF's first challenge to bring our fighters to North America and Europe. Our F-15 Eagles are to spread their wings in the
Atlantic. This mission is to symbolize the recognition of JASDF that the security of
Euro-Atlantic and of the Indo-Pacific are inseparable and interconnected. We are
visiting Eielson Air Base, Alaska, U.S.A., Goose bay Air Base, Canada, RAF
Coningsby, United Kingdom, and Laage Air Force Base, Germany. We are also
conducting Defense cooperation and exchanges in each visiting countries. We
