TOKYO, Sept. 16 -- Cabinet Office issued the following press release:

The Food Safety Commission is now accepting applications for research projects to be carried out in fiscal year 2026 for its "Food Health Risk Assessment Technology Research" project, a public proposal-based commissioned research initiative being implemented to promote science-based food health risk assessment. The aim of this project is to gain the knowledge necessary for conducting risk assessments and formulating guidelines for those assessment methods. In addition, since the fiscal year 2024 call for applications, a new call for applications has been established for young researchers to serve as principal investigators, with the aim of cultivating experts who will be responsible for food risk assessment in the future, and this will continue in the fiscal year 2026 call for applications.
