TOKYO, Oct. 14 -- JASDF issued the following news:

From October 7 to 11, the Koku-Jieitai (JASDF) and Philippine Air Force conducted the Japan-Philippines Bilateral Exercise on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR) "Doshin Bayanihan 5-25" in the Philippines.

The training involved C-130H aircraft from both Koku-Jieitai and Philippine Air Force, and JASDF and PAF conducted airdrop and mass casualty training to enhance HA/DR capabilities as well as strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Additionally, during the training period, in response to an earthquake that occurred in Cebu Province, a Koku-Jieitai K/C-130H conducted an airlift of support goods prepared by the Philippine side from Tacloban Air Base in Leyte to Mactan Air Base (Mactan Cebu International Airport) in Cebu.

Notably, the Japan-Philippines Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) was applied for the first time to both the joint training and the support goods transport.

Koku-Jieitai will continue to promote smooth communication between the two air services, strengthen effective cooperation, and contribute to regional peace and stability through these efforts.
