TOKYO, July 31 -- JMSDF issued the following news:

The Indo-Pacific Deployment 2025 (IPD25) unit will participate in a multilateral exercise (Super

Garuda Shield 25) hosted by the U.S. and Indonesian Armed Forces as described below in order to

strengthen cooperation to realize a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific". 1. Objectives

(1) To improve JMSDF's tactical capabilities (2) To enhance mutual understanding and strengthen relationship with the participating countries

2. Period August 24 - September 4

3. Exercise Area In and around the Republic of Indonesia (Java Island, Sumatra Island, Dabo Singkep Island) 4. Participating Units (1) Commanding Officer: CAPT HIRAI Katsuhide, Commander, Landing Ship Division 1 (2) Unit: JS OSUMI and two LCAC (IPD25 Second Surface Unit)

5. Type of Exercises Amphibious Exercise, Tactical Maneuvering, PHOTOEX, and others. 6. Notes

The JMSDF will participate in Super Garuda Shield for the first time.
