TOKYO, July 10 -- Japan Patent Office issued the following news:
A delegation from Japan including Japan Patent Office (JPO) Commissioner Mr. KASAI Yasuyuki, and Deputy Commissioner Mr. YASUDA Futoshi, is attending the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), which began on July 7 in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the opening session, JPO Commissioner KASAI delivered a General Statement*1 on behalf of Japan, wherein he congratulated DG Tang on his reappointment for the second term as Director General and mentioned that the intellectual property system plays a crucial role in contributing toward global economic growth and the resolution of social issues. He also expressed gratitude to WIPO for the stable operation and continued improvement of international filing and registration systems. Furthermore, Commissioner KASAI highlighted Japan's ongoing support for these initiatives through the Funds-in-Trust Japan IP Global. He reaffirmed Japan's support for WIPO's initiatives, including its efforts to promote the utilization of the IP system by SMEs, startups, and entrepreneurs for sustainable global economic growth, as well as WIPO GREEN initiatives, which addresses the global challenge of climate change.
The meetings will run through July 15, and discussions will be conducted on the various reports, budgets, and activities of the respective committees.
